Roman Polanksi alleges misconduct in underage sex case, wants charges dismissed
by Vicki Hyman/The Star-Ledger
Wednesday December 03, 2008, 12:00 PM
Director Roman Polanski, still a fugitive from the U.S. because of an underage sex conviction, has filed a request to dismiss the charges after a recent documentary turned up evidence of prosecutorial and judicial misconduct, the Associated Press reports.
Polanski pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl he hired as a model for a photo shoot and plied with Quaaludes and champagne, but he fled to France before sentencing and has been living there in exile ever since. A warrant for his arrest is still in effect, though the woman with whom he had sex 30 years ago has said she wants the charge dropped.
Polanski's motion cites heavily from the HBO documentary, which claimed the publicity-hound judge inappropriately conferred with the Los Angeles County district attorney's office about the sentence.
Kevin Federline talks about Britney Spears: Their break-up, her breakdown
by Vicki Hyman/The Star-Ledger
Wednesday December 03, 2008, 10:58 AM
Throughout all the mishegoss over Britney Spears' breakdown, Kevin Federline has, to his credit, kept relatively quiet, letting his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan be his mouthpiece (and not just because Kaplan can form sentences that don't involve the words "yo" and "pimp")
Now Federline talks to People magazine (sharing the cover with sons Preston and Jayden) about his marriage, his ex-wife's breakdown, and how he still, yes, loves her. Before their 2006 split, he says they were having problems, and he was concentrating more on his kids than Spears. "I didn't give her an ultimatum, but I was trying to work stuff out with her, and she didn't even talk to me or anything and went behind my back and filed [for divorce]. [I was] completely blindsided."
Ivana Trump splits from fourth husband
by Vicki Hyman/The Star-Ledger
Tuesday December 02, 2008, 2:50 PM
Ivana Trump, who just announced she's divorcing her fourth husband, Italian businessman Rossano Rubicon, says they actually split three months ago, but she didn't want the news to ruin his chances on the Italian version of "Survivor."
Didn't help. Rubicon lost out to Vladimir Luxuria, who -- and our Italian is a little rusty, but we think we're translating this correctly -- is "the most famous transgender of Italy."

Farrah FawcettA longtime administrative worker at UCLA Medical Center has pleaded guilty to accessing records of celebrity patients and selling their secrets to the National Enquirer, according to the Associated Press.
Lawanda Jackson, who left her job before she could be fired, violated the medical privacy rights of Britney Spears, Farrah Fawcett, Maria Shriver, and other stars and public figures, a federal offense. She faces up to 10 years in prison, plus three years of supervised release, and a maximum of $250,000 in fines. She'll be sentenced in May.
The National Enquirer paid at least $4,600 for the information beginning in 2006, according to prosecutors, and the U.S. Attorney's Office is still investigating whether the tabloid and other media outlets knowingly paid for illegal access to the medical records.
Kirsten Dunst gets restraining order against admitted stalker
by Vicki Hyman/The Star-Ledger
Tuesday December 02, 2008, 11:18 AM
A man who trespassed at Kirsten Dunst's Los Angeles home tells police he has "connected spiritually" with the actress and wants investigators to ask her if she felt the connection, too.
Dunst responded legally, getting a restraining order against Christopher Smith. (That would be a "no," Chris.)
Tina Fey accuses critics of her Sarah Palin impression of sexism
by Vicki Hyman/The Star-Ledger
Tuesday December 02, 2008, 11:12 AM
"What made me super-mad about it was that it seemed very sexist toward me and her. The implication was that she's so fragile, which she is not. She's a strong woman. And then, also, it was sexist because, like, who would ever go on the news and say, 'Well, I thought it was sort of mean to Richard Nixon when Dan Aykroyd played him,' and 'That seemed awful mean to George Bush when Will Ferrell did it.' And it's like, 'No, that's not the thing. This is a comedy sketch on a comedy show.'"
