Man shot multiple times in chest in Jersey City

Shortly before 5 p.m. tonight, a man was shot multiple times in the chest near the intersection of Myrtle and Ocean avenues in Jersey City, police officials said.
The man stumbled into the Ocean Mini Mart store at the corner where a person in the store called the police.

Jersey City artist puts the 'pro' in Pro Arts

Jersey City artist, Rebecca Feranec, has been promoted to Executive Director of Pro Arts Jersey City.
Feranec, worked as a studio tour coordinator starting in 2006 and was advanced to the new position because of her passion for helping local artists display and sell their work.
"It's important for there to be a center dedicated to the arts in Hudson County," said Feranec.
She is working with local organizations and sponsors such as Washington Mutual, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs to open a studio for the arts program in the Jersey City area.
Until that space is available, Feranec is also working on opening an art lounge in her apartment where artists can show their work, listen to and write music, relax and hang out.

Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy and Assemblyman L. Harvey Smith, D-Jersey City, are among the 30 elected state officials who donated their time to record public service announcements for the New Jersey Organ and Tissue Sharing Network to raise awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation.
The New Jersey Sharing Network, as it is commonly referred to, coordinates organ donations with all of the state's transplant centers. Healy and Smith are the only two politicians from Hudson to record the PSAs. Healy also spoke of his personal experience in an interview with transplant recipient.

There were 36 reported murders in Hudson County in 2008. Most of the violent acts were due to gang and drug involvement which resulted in a high amount.
Very often the victims and offenders are part of a revolving cast of characters, Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor said yesterday.

Charges of witness tampering and terroristic threats against bounty hunter Adel Mikhaeil were dismissed late yesterday afternoon, his lawyer said this morning.
The state Attorney General's Office dismissed without prejudice two charges against Mikhaeil, 43, which means the state can recharge the Jersey City man in the future. A state spokesperson could not be immediately reached for the reason why the charges were dismissed.

The search for the remains of Kalynn Moore's baby continue. The body was possibly dumped in the trash at the Christ Hospital in Jersey City. Whether the baby was born stillborn or passed away due to complications after birth is still disputed.
The investigation for the remains have led authorities to a waste disposal site in Kentucky where the body may have been incinerated.
